Support Digital Learning For Underserved Youth

Digital literacy is a required skill for today’s job market. The knowledge of computers and the internet is a must to make our youth ready for Digital India.

However, the playing field is not level for youth from poor slum communities like Vysarpadi in North Chennai. They face multiple challenges such as:

  • Digital literacy courses not being adequately taught in government run institutions and the private institutes are too expensive for students.
  • Many youth are high school drop outs and need separate computer classes that are tailored to prepare them for the job market.
  • Lack of knowledge in spoken English makes it difficult for them to get even entry level roles.
  • Students struggle with low self esteem related issues and need counselling and extra support to build their capacities.

To help students over come these obstacles, Praise Foundation in partnership with Vialista Foundation has implemented a certified 6 month Digital Literacy Course for students from urban poor and rural poor backgrounds. The course will help students learn computer ( Mircosoft office, Photoshop and tally) and spoken English skills that will boost their credentials and opportunities.
